“the reality is that Catherine is freakish…”

I’m bored today and have no motivation to do anything so I took a peak into my “spam” catcher and the results were entertaining. These were captured in a filter even before moderation because they come from accounts who just wish to include their web addresses or keywords in as many places as possible. Often, the comment is vaguely complementary enough so most people let it through.

Here are some examples of vaguely complementary (exactly as posted):

I am really pleased for the operator of this website who has distributed this excellent part at below.

Thanks for finally talking about > blog_title < Liked it!|

Yes! Finally something about keyword1.|

Oh, my. I think we’ll have some major difficulties communicating.

Some use random word generators and they are just hilarious. As humans tend to try to make sense out of any pattern, even drivel, you might actually get a “Mad Libs” type laugh out of this one submitted by “under armor running shoes”:

Katherine Heigl has also also been simply by using a heated holiday backed, despite jane is extremely powerful suntan, quite possibly she has been a significant utilization of Quest Tropez. 1. I used to get quite a few of those comments on Word Press but the system’s Akismet spam killer seems to catch almost all of them now.

While most of the fake comments were of the generic, “loved your latest posting” type, I ran across a particularly egregious example that ran on for about 150 words, filled with various “[insert keyword 1]”-type elements. It was hilarious to see the unmasking of the scammer and I wish I had saved it at the time.

  2. I liked the comment on Doubtful News from Dick Sucking: “great day thanks” or the ones where we can make $500 a day working from home. Or all the comments about how great the site is, without giving any additional information just WHAT it is about the site they like so much!

  3. I get these too over at grouchyfarmer and some of them are hilarious. I’m enormously curious about “yarn salmon men”. You could spin that one off into an entire horror short story —

It was a dark and stormy night. Little did Jennifer know that soon her peaceful evening would be destroyed by the yarn salmon men creeping up her driveway…
